Peter Schulman is a Partner in RubinBrown’s Corporate Finance & Forensics Services Group.  He has extensive experience in bankruptcy and commercial damages, with a sub-specialty in computer forensics and systems consulting.

Peter has over 30 years of experience as a testifying expert on behalf of defendants, plaintiffs, trustees, creditors, debtors and the court.  He has gained national recognition as a speaker on topics regarding discounting lost profits and computer applications in litigation, including databases and graphic presentations of complex financial concepts.

Several of Peter’s articles have been published in numerous legal and accounting publications, on a wide array of topics.  One article is cited as an authority on damages in a leading Federal Court Case, Energy Capital Corp. v. The United States, 47 Fed. Cl. 382 (2000) and in Recovery of Damages for Lost Profits, Robert L. Dunn (6th ed.).  The article is also cited as an authority in The Comprehensive Guide to Lost Profits Damages for Experts and Attorneys, Nancy J. Fannon (2009 ed.), and in Practitioners Publishing Company, Guide to Litigation Support Services, (14th Ed. 2009), at §303.59.

In a 1999 ruling, a federal judge made the following comments regarding Peter’s testimony: “Peter Schulman ... is highly experienced and competent.  He appears to be reliable and credible.  His testimony was not impeached in any serious or substantial fashion.  He appears to the Court to be a solid technician with impressive investigative and analytical skills in the appropriate areas. Peter Schulman...through some technical wizardry was able to retrieve certain information off the hard drive and determine what had happened to the hard drive.”

Peter is a recipient of the Certified Insolvency and Reorganization Advisor (CIRA) designation, which he achieved through completion of an in-depth financial insolvency and restructuring program covering all aspects of bankruptcy and reorganization.  This included managing financial turnaround and bankruptcy cases, avoidance actions, reorganization plan development, insolvency accounting, financial reporting, and bankruptcy taxation issues, along with a minimum of 4,000 hours of specialized insolvency and reorganization experience.

Peter is also the recipient of the Certification in Distressed Business Valuation (CDBV) designation.  To earn this designation, Peter completed rigorous training and examinations in advanced business valuations and valuation of distressed assets, including distressed and/or bankrupt businesses.
