Steven J. Dreyer, Managing Director
In October 2006, Steve was named U.S. practice leader for Utilities, Power and Project Finance Ratings. Previously, he was practice leader for Insurance Ratings, covering insurers, reinsurers, and health plans in the U.S., Canada & Bermuda.
Steve joined Standard & Poor’s in 1990 with its acquisition of ratings firm Insurance Solvency International, Ltd., whose U.S. subsidiary he managed. Previously, he was responsible for insurance industry forecasting at Chase Econometrics.
Steve holds a B.A. in Statistics from the University of Delaware and did graduate work at Drexel University. He completed McGraw-Hill’s General Management Program (1993), Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services Executive Development Program at the University of Virginia (1996), and Standard & Poor’s Senior Management Leadership Program at Columbia University (2005).
Steve was named to Insurance Newscast’s “List of the 100 Most Powerful People in Insurance in North America” from 2002 to 2006. In 2003, he contributed to the Greater New York Safety Council’s “Roundtables on Sector Preparedness” which reported to the 9-11 Commission, and in 2006 was a judge for the “real-LIFEstories Award” sponsored by the Life & Health Insurance Foundation for Education. He is a member of board of directors of the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association.
