| National Association of Black Accountants Names Harris Rising Star |

The Rising Star award recognizes a current lifetime NABA member who has accomplished a significant professional or community project, who holds a prominent position within the organization. Honorees also must have served in NABA for 8 to 15 years since college graduation. Harris will be recognized on June 20 at the association’s national convention in New Orleans. As president of the St. Louis chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants, Harris recently attended NABA’s Central Region Student Conference in Detroit, MI as a panelist and served as chair of the conference’s publications committee. He works with the organization, which RubinBrown sponsors, to recruit talent to the St. Louis area. Harris has held many roles in NABA, including corporate development chair, executive vice president of internal affairs and executive vice president of external affairs. “Steven has continuously shown an exemplary level of dedication to community involvement and outreach,” said John F. Herber, Jr., CPA, managing partner, RubinBrown. “He has proven to be more than deserving of this most recent national honor.” Harris works with accounting clients in the contractor, home builder, entertainment, and manufacturing and distribution industries, handling account management, client relations, and auditing and consulting services. He also serves as co-chair of the firm’s inclusion committee, assisting with diversity recruitment. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Harris also serves on the University of Missouri-St. Louis African American Alumni Board and on the governing board of the University of Missouri-St. Louis Alumni Association. In addition, he is a member of the Inroads Alumni Association, treasurer of the St. Louis Language Immersion School and an instructor for Junior Achievement. Harris is a 2006 graduate of RubinBrown’s LEAD program, a bi-annual initiative designed to foster leadership within the firm. He was recognized by the University of Missouri-St. Louis as an Outstanding Young Alumni and was named to the St. Louis Business Journal’s 30 Under 30 list in 2004. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. . |
