RubinBrown CPA Named One of Nation’s Top Recession Tax Advisors Print

BrownSteven.jpgSteve Brown, CPA, partner-in-charge of RubinBrown’s Tax Consulting Services Group was named one of CPA Magazine’s Top 40 Tax Advisors to Know during a Recession. Brown was the only St. Louis advisor named to the national list.

The magazine invited every state society and national association of CPAs and accountants to nominate candidates, selecting the 40 elite based upon their experience, knowledge and tax planning advice. They were recognized in its April 15 tax issue, along with their suggestions to businesses during the recession. Brown advised companies to stick with long term business goals and not get distracted by the current economic climate, instead taking time to train and upgrade employees’ job performance.

“Steve’s extensive experience in tax consulting places him among the state’s most knowledgeable advisors,” said John F. Herber Jr., CPA, managing partner, RubinBrown. “His work within the firm, and in the accounting industry as a whole, has proven very beneficial, particularly during a time of economic strain.”

Brown has served at RubinBrown for more than 29 years and is called upon frequently as a lecturer for tax seminars and conferences. He has contributed to several leading tax reports and has been an expert guest on live television and radio broadcasts. Brown currently sits on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ S-Corporation Technical Research Panel, which is working to aid struggling businesses by pushing for new government tax legislation.

He also serves on the AICPA Annual Estate Planning Conference Steering Committee and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Emory University.
