The HCC is a multi-state, multi-metro initiative to address the economic crossroads at which the Great Plains and Midwest regions of the United States stand.  Civic leaders from four Midwestern metro areas – Des Moines, Kansas City, Omaha, and St. Louis have partnered to develop strategic, coordinated actions that strengthen the Heartland’s competitiveness in the global economy.

The focus of the HCC is to take advantage of the opportunities to capitalize on the collective assets of the region, and as a result, strengthen the entire region’s competitiveness and opportunities for economic development.  HCC is undertaking this project in collaboration with BioKansas, Bio Nebraska, BioSTL, IowaBio, Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute, Inc., and MOBIO.
