Castellano recognized for his achievements and leadership in the accounting profession
November 20, 2015
The Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants awarded Jim Castellano, chairman of national accounting firm RubinBrown, with its Outstanding Visionary Award. Part of the MSCPA’s Impact Awards Program, the Visionary Award celebrates the achievements, innovation and leadership of members in the accounting industry who are working to advance the CPA profession.
Castellano has served at RubinBrown for more than 40 years and has led the organization since 1989. In addition to his leadership role at the firm, he also serves as chairman of Baker Tilly International, the world’s eighth largest network of independent accounting firms. Previously, Castellano served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants during 2002, representing more than 330,000 members. He committed his time as chairman to restoring public confidence during the accounting profession’s fallout from the Enron scandal.

The Journal of Accountancy named Castellano one of the 125 People of Impact in Accounting in 2012 and the American Institute of CPAs awarded him the Gold Medal for Distinguished Service. In addition, he received the Braden Award from Case Weatherhead School of Management and was named Business Person of the Year in 2003 by the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. More recently, Castellano was named to Ingram’s Magazines 50 Missourians You Should Know and was a recipient of Rockhurst University’s Magis Award along with his wife Karen earlier this fall. Currently, he serves on the board of directors for the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital Foundation and is a member of the executive committee of the St. Louis Regional Business Council. Castellano also serves as chairman of the board of trustees for Rockhurst University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Castellano accepted his award at a dinner reception Thursday, November 19 at The Palladim in St. Louis.
