Stephen Maggart is a Partner in RubinBrown’s Tax Services Group. He has diversified experience in accounting, auditing, and tax matters for financial institutions, commercial, construction, real estate, individuals, and not-for-profit clients. His engagement responsibilities have included extensive dealings with management consulting activities, including litigation support services. These support services have included both consulting on accountant responsibilities and testimony as an expert witness. Litigation support services over the past decade have included several accountant malpractice cases, assistance in matters involving alleged defalcations, assistance in the investigation of numerous claims related to alleged employee defalcations under Standard Form 24 on Bankers Blanket Bonds, and business valuations.
Stephen has significant experience in all phases of complex mergers and acquisitions of numerous businesses. His experience includes identification of acquisition targets, preparation of terms sheets, memorandum of understanding, definitive agreements including stock verses asset purchases, consulting agreements, non-compete agreements, and more. Stephen’s experience covers a period of over 45 years and includes a variety of industries, including financial institutions, contractors, and the service industry. Experience also includes filing with regulatory agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Reserve, and various State regulatory agencies.
Stephen has served as an assistant instructor for accounting at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee. He has also served as an instructor for various courses and seminars for the Tennessee Society of CPAs.
