RubinBrown, one of the nation’s top 50 accounting and business consulting firms, recently welcomed Don Mapes, CIA, CISA, CSX, as a manager in the Business Advisory Services Group for its Denver office.

Mapes has more than 22 years of internal audit experience. He provides risk management consulting services and conducts internal audits for clients in the public sector, manufacturing and distribution public sector industries.

Mapes was recently awarded the Outstanding Chapter Leader Award by the ISACA, where he’s served in a variety of positions since 2010, including president, webmaster, executive vice president and treasurer. The award was in recognition of his “unwavering commitment to service to the Denver ISACA chapter and impactful contributions to the local community.”

Mapes’ community involvement includes volunteering as a CyberPatriot mentor for the US Air Force Association’s Northrop Grumman Foundation youth program, and acting as coordinator of student programs for the Rocky Mountain Information Security Conference (RMISC).

Prior to joining RubinBrown, Mapes served as the director of internal audit for Triangle Petroleum (Nine Point Energy), where he managed audit projects centered around financial, operational and informational systems. For 11 years, he led the company’s department as chief audit executive. He has twice formed and implemented a company’s internal audit function. Additionally, Mapes has performed quality assessment reviews as an independent evaluator.

He earned his M.B.A. in technology management from the University of Phoenix and his B.S.B.A. in business with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs.
